Who is Stephen Bauer
I’m Stephen Bauer — an entrepreneur, operator, and builder with deep roots in the Maritimes.
I grew up in Summerside, PEI and Moncton, New Brunswick, and my path has never been a straight line. After high school, I worked a variety of jobs, including several years in call centres and as an operational specialist for a major local grocer. Later, I went back to school for trucking and heavy equipment, which led me to five years working in the oil field. From there, I made another big shift and returned to school again to study refrigeration and geothermal technology.
I’ve always been someone who learns by doing, solving problems, and building things in the real world.
That mindset led me to start Sandbar HVAC and later work as a liaison for the Cumberland County GeoCAT project with Net Zero Atlantic. After that, I joined Darren at WayCool Refrigeration as the only technician. In just a few years, I grow Waycool into a thriving local business with a team of 10 employees and growing. Today, as Operations Manager, I help lead a company that offers more than HVAC — including solar, spray foam, and residential electrical.
I’m also the co-owner of Fundy Digital Media & Marketing with my partner, Jenna, where we help businesses grow their presence through content, media, and marketing.
At the core of everything I do is a passion for business, problem solving, and helping people. I care about building strong companies, supporting local communities, and creating work that actually makes a difference.
Outside of business, I love running, going to the gym, and pushing myself to keep growing — both personally and professionally.

My Journey
My journey has been built on hard work, reinvention, and learning by doing. Growing up in Summerside, PEI and Moncton, New Brunswick, I took a path that moved through many industries — from call centres and operations roles to trucking, heavy equipment, and five years in the oil field.
Over time, I discovered a passion for problem solving, business, and building something of my own. That led me back to school for refrigeration and geothermal technology, into entrepreneurship with Sandbar HVAC, and eventually into helping grow WayCool Refrigeration from a one-tech operation into a growing local company. Today, I also co-own Fundy Digital with my partner Jenna, combining business, creativity, and strategy to help brands grow.

From changing industries to building businesses, every stage of my journey has been about growth through action, resilience, and real-world experience.
